I Don't Want to Miss a Thing
It might surprise you to know that Aerosmith are the most commercially successful American rock band of all time; to date, they’ve achieved record sales in excess of 150 million (nearly half of that number in the US alone). They are also one of only two American bands to have 12 multi-platinum albums (Van Halen also equalled this impressive feat).
In spite of the band’s incredible ability to sell albums, they had to wait 25 years for a number one single. Aerosmith recorded “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”, written by Diane Warren, for the Armageddon film soundtrack – it was originally intended for U2, but after Liv Tyler was cast in the lead role, it somehow made more sense to have her father on the soundtrack.

“I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” bass performance notes:
This is a one-page chord chart with some basic parts, rather than a full note-for-note transcription of what Tom Hamilton actually played. I wrote the chart after getting a call for a live band karaoke gig for which I had to prepare a 90-song set list with 48 hours’ notice, so I just put down the bare essentials.
